CONCEPTOINGLÉS BRITÁNICO (UK)INGLÉS AMERICANO (US)
PelículaFilmMovie
Cine (edificio)CinemaMovie theater
SesiónShowing / ScreeningShowing
EntradaTicketTicket
TaquillaBox officeBox office
PalomitasPopcornPopcorn
Cola de entradaQueueLine
IntervaloIntervalIntermission

  • «This film, directed by…, tells the story of…»
  • «Set in…, this gripping drama follows…»
  • «Based on the novel by…, this adaptation…»
  • «Released in…, this award-winning film…»

Para hablar del argumento sin revelar demasiado:

  • «Without giving too much away…»
  • «The story revolves around…»
  • «The plot centres on…»
  • «What makes this film particularly interesting is…»

Para analizar aspectos técnicos:

  • «The cinematography is breathtaking / stunning / impressive.»
  • «The performances are convincing / outstanding / powerful.»
  • «The soundtrack perfectly complements…»
  • «The special effects are remarkable / impressive / seamless.»

Para dar opiniones equilibradas:

  • «While the plot is engaging, some may find…»
  • «Despite its flaws, the film succeeds in…»
  • «On the one hand… On the other hand…»
  • «The film has both strengths and weaknesses…»

Para hacer recomendaciones:

  • «I would highly recommend this film to anyone who…»
  • «This is a must-see for fans of…»
  • «While it may not appeal to everyone, those who appreciate… will love it.»
  • «In conclusion, this film is well worth watching because…»

Conectores útiles para reviews:

  • «Furthermore / Moreover / In addition» (para añadir información positiva)
  • «However / Nevertheless / On the other hand» (para contrastar)
  • «Particularly / Especially» (para enfatizar)
  • «Overall / All in all / To sum up» (para concluir)

1. Confundir «see» y «watch»

«I watched a film at the cinema last night»
«I saw a film at the cinema last night»

«Let’s see a film on Netflix»
«Let’s watch a film on Netflix»

«I assisted the new Marvel film»
«I watched/saw the new Marvel film»

3. Decir «the film is about of» en vez de «the film is about»

«The film is about of a detective»
«The film is about a detective»

Después de «about» nunca va «of».

4. Usar mal «starring» y «played by»

«The film stars by Tom Cruise»
«The film stars Tom Cruise» o «Tom Cruise stars in the film»

«The role plays Tom Cruise»
«The role is played by Tom Cruise» o «Tom Cruise plays the role»

Cuidado con las estructuras: «The film stars [actor]» (activa) o «[Actor] stars in the film». Para el papel específico: «The role is played by [actor]» (pasiva) o «[Actor] plays the role of…» (activa).

5. Confundir «funny» con «fun»

«It was a very fun film» (técnicamente incorrecto, aunque se usa coloquialmente)
«It was a very funny film» (si te hizo reír)
«It was great fun» o «It was a lot of fun» (si lo pasaste bien)

6. Usar «recommend me» en vez de «recommend to me»

«Can you recommend me a good film?»
«Can you recommend a good film to me?» o simplemente «Can you recommend a good film?»

Premiere/ˈpremieə/ o /prɪˈmɪeə/Dos pronunciaciones aceptadas.
Biopic/ˈbaɪəʊpɪk/Pronuncia «BAI-o-pik», no «bio-pic».
Cinematography/ˌsɪnəməˈtɒɡrəfi/El acento va en «TO»: si-ne-ma-TO-gra-fi.

Por ejemplo: «The Godfather is a gripping crime drama».
